Physician’s Building remodel is finished

M.E. Crete and Jesse Vickery from Lodi buy store from Fred Schoen. The business is renamed to “Corner Drug Company”
1935
Corner Drug becomes the first Walgreen’s “franchise” in California
1940
Karl Hanke is hired on as delivery boy. He later attends pharmacy school and returns as pharmacist
1948
The iconic Corner Drug neon sign is installed
1951
Karl marries Eldrid Olsen, a clerk at the drugstore
1959
Howard Gregg and Karl Hanke become partners with Vickery
1979
Karl’s daughter, Lisa, graduates from UOP and joins her father as pharmacist
1980
Karl Hanke becomes sole owner
1997
Corner Drug celebrates 100 years in business
1999
Lisa Shelley buys the store from her dad, Karl Hanke. Her husband Ed Shelley is the manager and runs the retail side
2006
Lisa’s daughter Sara follows in her mother’s footsteps and graduates from UOP and joins the team as pharmacist. Husband Erik Daniells later joins as manager
2014
Corner Drug starts a new tradition of live music at Woodland’s First Friday art walk

The kids of Woodland get to take photos with Santa at a new holiday meet and greet

Native Sons of the Golden West recognize the history of Corner Drug and install commemorative plaque on 1st Street
